چکیده
We present numerical results for the deconfinement phase transition in Sp(2) and Sp(3) Yang-Mills theories in (2+1)-D and (3+1)-D. We then make a conjecture on the order of this phase transition in Yang-Mills theories with general Lie groups G

We construct a local, gauge-fixed, lattice Yang-Mills theory with an exact BRST invariance, and with the same perturbative expansion as the standard Yang-Mills theory. The ghost sector, and some of its BRST transformation rules, are modified to get around Neuberger’s theorem. A special term is introduced in the action to regularize the Gribov horizons, and the limit where the regulator is remov...

By fixing lattice Yang-Mills configurations to the maximal center gauge and subsequently applying the technique of center projection, one can identify center vortices in these configurations. Recently, center vortices have been shown to determine the string tension between static quarks at finite temperatures (center dominance); also, they correctly reproduce the deconfining transition to a pha...

Monte Carlo simulations of lattice QCD at non-zero baryon chemical potential µ suffer from the notorious complex action problem. We consider QCD with static quarks coupled to a large chemical potential. This leaves us with an SU(3) Yang-Mills theory with a complex action containing the Polyakov loop. Close to the deconfinement phase transition the qualitative features of this theory, in particu...

We study theories with the exceptional gauge group G(2). The 14 adjoint " gluons " of a G(2) gauge theory transform as {3}, {3} and {8} under the subgroup SU(3), and hence have the color quantum numbers of ordinary quarks, anti-quarks and gluons in QCD. Since G(2) has a trivial center, a " quark " in the {7} representation of G(2) can be screened by " gluons ". As a result, in G(2) Yang-Mills t...
متن کاملDeconfinement inYang-Mills: a conjecture for a general gauge Lie group G
Svetitsky and Yaffe have argued that — if the deconfinement phase transition of a (d+1)-dimensional Yang-Mills theory with gauge group G is second order — it should be in the universality class of a d-dimensional scalar model symmetric under the center C(G) of G. These arguments have been investigated numerically only considering Yang-Mills theory with gauge symmetry in the G = SU(N) branch, wh...
